At our Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 30 November, our community congratulated the following students who received special awards.
St Angela Merici Award - The St Angela Merici Award is presented to a student who has completed over 150 hours of Christian service and has 150 points across at least two areas of the following: Academic, Co-curricular, Cultural and Sport.

ANU Psychology Award:
Student who places first in the Psychology course after two years of study. The recipient of this award is: Jasmine Bonavita
Australian Mathematics Trust Award
This award goes to the student who places first in the highest Mathematics course after two years of study. The recipient of this award is: Rebecca Fergusson
ADFA Future Innovators Award
This award goes to the student who shows motivation, achievement and innovation in the areas of Science, Mathematics and other STEM areas. The student receiving this award has achieved highly in Specialist Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. The recipient of this award is: Ashley Frater
Long Tan Leadership Award
This Defence Force award goes to a student who demonstrates leadership traits in all that they do throughout the college. The student does not necessarily need to be a student leader; however, this year’s recipient is. This person is respected and held in high regard by all staff. She has been involved in many different events and represented the college with pride. She has been a role model to many junior students throughout this year. Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award:
This award goes to students who achieve bronze level status in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Scheme. Students need to demonstrate dedication, perseverance, flexibility and creativity to achieve this award. This award goes to: Fey Etherington
IB Diploma Award:
For the first time this year, we have a graduating cohort of IB Diploma students. As such, we begin the tradition of awarding the IB Diploma Award to a student from the program who has shown a strong commitment to the program and has honed her academic skills well across the two years. The first ever recipient of this award is: Isabel Fruignet
2021 BSSS Recognition of Excellence Ceremony - The BSSS Recognition of Excellence Ceremony is a prestigious award ceremony held in two weeks by the BSSS. Awards are given in five categories: Community Services, Vocational Studies, Academic Excellence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Academic Achievement. These awards will be presented here at Canberra Theatre on Monday 13 December. We would like our community to celebrate with the following awardees:
Vocational Education Award - Awarded to a student achieving excellence in one or more vocational courses. The recipient of this award is: Hanah Rudd
Community Service Award - Awarded to a student who has contributed widely to the life of the college and the broader community. The recipient of this award is: Fey Etherington
Academic Excellence: Awarded to a student who has achieved excellence in one area of study. The recipient is being awarded for their excellence in the English course. The recipient of this award is: Isabella Foster
Academic Achievement: Principals will be advised of the names of students who achieve the top ATAR at each College on Friday 10 December, so that these students and their guests can be invited to attend the BSSS awards presentation.
Dux is Latin for "leader". It is the modern title given to the highest-ranking student in academic achievement in a graduating year. The runner-up is given the title Proxime Accessit (meaning "she came next"). The following two students are the highest achieving Year 12 students who completed Tertiary Packages at Merici College, based on their semester raw unit scores.
