Ellie Mobbs
Class of 2003

Ellie graduated from Merici College in 2003. The Merici College community were thrilled to welcome Ellie back to the College to present at our Academic Awards held in February 2021. Ellie spoke to the students about her life experiences since graduating from Merici College. Ellie was the House Captain of Balgo. Her love for radio began when she was 15. Her dream was to one day work at Canberra’s Hit 104.7 or 104.1 2DayFM in Sydney. By the age of 24, she accomplished both! Ellie is one of Australia’s best radio announcers on-air Monday to Friday 12pm - 3pm on 2DayFM plus hosts Weekend Breakfast on Hit 104.7. Her media career spans over 15 years making appearances on national radio shows, TV and earning her multiple Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRA) as a finalist. Ellie is passionate about woman’s health and is as an ambassador for Endometriosis Australia. She is a great example of daring to dream!

A reflection from Ellie:

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Merici College community for welcoming me back to Merici College on Monday 22 February for the Academic Awards. The opportunity to speak to the College’s amazing students and staff about my life experiences since my graduation in 2003 was wonderful. As I mentioned at the awards, I am passionate about woman’s health and my work with Endometriosis Australia. More than 700,000 Australian women suffer with the crippling symptoms of endometriosis including severe period pain and bleeding, often starting out in the teen years. Worse still, diagnosis can take a very long time which leaves women suffering. I am a very proud ambassador for Endometriosis Australia and hope that by talking about my own personal experience with endometriosis, my diagnosis and how I am navigating and supporting my body living with this illness, has been a support to anyone suffering from Endo. My journey began while I was at Merici. I found it hard to do school work and keep a social life while suffering in silence. Painful periods are not normal. It is an important conversation to start.
