2023 ACT BSSS Recognition of Excellence Ceremony

The ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) Recognition of Excellence Ceremony is a prestigious award ceremony. Awards are given in five categories: Community Services, Vocational Studies, Academic Excellence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Academic Achievement. These awards were presented at the Canberra Theatre on Monday 11 December.

We would like to congratulate the recipients receiving the following awards and commend them for their exceptional dedication to their studies.

The Award for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander: Is awarded to a student for their dedication and commitment to the life of the College throughout their Year 11 and 12 years. This year’s recipient has also achieved well across her academic package.

This year’s recipient is Tahlia Hancock.

The Award for Vocational Studies: Is awarded to a student achieving excellence in one or more vocational courses. This year’s winner has participated in Vocational Training both inside and outside of the school, achieving outstanding results.

The recipient of this award is Alexandra Young.

The Award for Community Services: Is awarded to a student who has contributed widely to the life of the college and the broader community. She has committed herself to many charity events and has also shown great leadership in organising service opportunities for many other students across the school. The amount of time she has committed to helping others is unmatched.

The recipient of this award is Maria Georgiadis.

The Award for Academic Excellence: Is awarded to a student who has achieved excellence in one area of study. The recipient is being awarded for their excellence in the tertiary Psychology course. The recipient of this award is Jasmine Evans.

It is normally at this time that we would award the Merici Dux and runner up. As the IB Diploma results are not released until January, we will award these two highly prestigious awards once we have both the BSSS and IB Diploma results. We will announce the recipients next February at school via our Opening Assembly, where the recipients and their families will attend the crowning of these prestigious titles.

Congratulations to all our students on their exemplary academic achievements.
