Grandparents Day - A Time to be Thankful

A very special prayer reflection and morning tea were held on Wednesday 26 July with Year 7 students and their grandparents.  The service was also in celebration of the Feast Days of Saints Joachim and Anne, grandparents of Jesus held also on 26 July. This was a wonderful opportunity for students to express their love and appreciation to their grandparents for playing such an important role in their lives. Throughout the reflection, grandparents and students shared the special memories they have experienced together.

Merici College’s Transitions Forum Sets Pathways for Year 10 Students

Year 10 students at Merici College participated in a week-long Transitions Forum from Monday 26 July to Friday 30 July 2017. The Forum is held every year and is dedicated to Year 10 students moving into their final years of education, providing them with an opportunity to consider their course choices for Years 11 and 12 and to think about career pathways.

During the week students considered how to make decisions, reflected on what is important in their lives, tried out a few different careers, learnt about the job market, prepared for senior study and much, much more.

Merici College Vinnies School Sleepout 2017

Canberra’s cold temperatures did not favour Merici College Year 10, 11 and 12 students and teachers who rose to the challenge on Thursday 22 June for the annual Student Representative Council (SRC) Vinnies Sleepout.

The group slept outdoors in the New Quad to raise funds for Canberra’s homeless. With the temperature a low of -3 degrees, students and teachers prepared themselves for a cold night out. The aim of the night was to promote awareness within our Merici community of the issue of homelessness and for the students to experience a small part of the reality of homelessness.
