Cultural immersion in the Lombadina-Djarindjin community
Submitted by mericiadmin on August 17, 2017 - 11:34amAt our recent Narragunnawali Assembly, the school community commissioned the Lombadina Immersion Program participants. The Immersion will take place from 23 September until 2 October. Senior students Hannah Mason, Lauren Hawkins, Alexandra Moylan, Eva Knight, Julia Page, Genevieve Sandeman, accompanied by staff Ms Connellan and Mr Chifley, as well as two Catholic Mission Australia representatives, will participate in a cultural immersion in the Lomadina-Djarindjin community, North-East of Broome organized by Catholic Mission Australia.
Year 9 Spirituality Day 'Strength of Faith'
The Year 9 Spirituality Day was held on campus on Wednesday 16 August. The day addressed issues of limiting values and motivated students to tear away the mask – looking to strengthen their faith. Also included in the program was a presentation on mental health led by Batyr (www.batyr.com.au) and a powerful affirmation exercise.

Bridge Benefit Dinner 2017 - Book Now!

This year our Hospitality students have elected that all proceeds will be donated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Canberra Hospital. The NICU provides an invaluable service to our community, providing care for babies who require extra attention following birth.

On Thursday 27 July, Merici College hosted the 'Vinnies Night Out – Reduce, Reuse, Restyle' event which was a concert-style fundraising event for the Vinnies Winter Appeal. The event included a line-up of some of Canberra’s best up-and-coming talent including: DJs Toucan Music and Bangers and Mash; Bands Jacob Jones Keogh and Salad Buoys; and dancers from Bom Funk Dance Studio. A sausage sizzle, raffles and a dress-up competition were also part of the evening’s activities. Catholic schools with students from Years 10-12 came along and supported this event.
