Dear Community,
I am very pleased to invite all members of our community, past and present students, staff and friends...
A very special prayer reflection was held this morning with Year 7 students and their grandparents.
Imogene Blake has been selected as one of just five year-11 Canberra students to attend the National Constitutional Convention next year. This comes after competing in the ACT Constitutional Convention at parliament a couple of weeks ago. Imogene’s selection is a rare honour. Also represented will be Canberra Grammar, Radford, Dickson and Daramalan, two girls and three boys. The Convention will be an intense experience of debating and deliberating with students from all states and territories over three days in March, to make recommendations to the Federal Parliament.
Friday 26th July was National Tree Day!
National Tree Day is a call to action for all Australians to put their hands in the earth and give back to their community.

We would like to thank the businesses and individuals who donated items, as well as our fellow Canberra senior students, and the Merici College community for supporting the Lifeline Canberra Stress Down Day and raising $2,000 for Lifeline Canberra.
Stress Down Day is a fun and easy initiative designed to reduce stress and raise funds for Lifeline Canberra. Research shows that 90% of Australians need to stress less! What can you do today to stress less? Spend time with friends, eat your favourite food, enjoy nature, hug your best friend, call a family member, or go for a walk. Too many to name, but plenty of options, that hopefully can make their way into your life routine and help you stress less every day.
As part of the Australian team for the International Physics Olympiad, I was privileged enough to have the opportunity to go to Israel to compete in the July holidays. This was undoubtedly a life-changing experience: seeing the world, and meeting the world's future scientists. I met passionate students from across the globe, from countries including, but not limited to: Kazakhstan, Brazil, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Germany, Poland, France, Korea, and Israel.
If you are in the market for some new sunglasses, consider these.....they are upcycled from commercial gill nets removed from the Great Barrier Reef. Developed as a partnership led by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) it is hoped that the purchase of these Reefcycle sunglasses will allow more commercial fishing nets to be upcycled into sunglasses, saving more marine life.
Toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes and their packaging and dental floss containers are not recyclable through conventional recycling streams.
However Terracycle is an innovative company that has made a business of "recycling the unrecyclable".
A collection station will be set up at Merici in Term 3, the bonus is that we can earn one cent per item to put towards sustainability projects here at the school.
