During a recent waste audit, the pictured item was found in one of our bins. It is a toy from McDonalds, opened, used for perhaps a few seconds and discarded to landfill where it will spend potentially a few hundred years.
It would be a positive action for sustainability and the school if you would decline such items at point of purchase.

As part of World Environment Day and our week of War on Waste, Merici College held a ‘whole school' Clean Up Australia by Houses today. We would like to thank the students for supporting this important event.
OzClo (The Australian Computational and Linguistics Olympiad) is an annual competition that challenges high school students to develop their own strategies for solving problems in fascinating real languages. Merici College entered a total of 9 senior and junior teams this year. Six teams achieved Bronze, two teams attained Silver and one team was awarded Gold.

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on the 5th of June every year, and is the United Nation's principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. On Friday 31 May, College staff and students celebrated the Feast Day of Saint Angela Merici. A special College community Mass was also held, celebrated by Fr Emil Milat and Fr Josh Scott. As this year marks 60 years since the beginning of the College, the Mass reflected on the College’s past, present and future journey from Canberra Catholic Girls’ High School in 1959, to Merici College in 2019 and beyond, with a special focus on the six Houses and the Founding Orders.
