In our #YearofYouth we continue to explore ways to discover new horizons to experience #Joy. As part of Catholic Schools Week, Merici College hosted Canberra’s largest thrift shop social event, “Merici Night Out” which was a concert-style fundraising event for Catholic Mission.
We would like to thank our dancers for supporting this community event!
On behalf of all the Merici College community, we commend the Year 11 Hospitality students, Trish Young and Tookie Capezio on their wonderful endeavours, and congratulate them for the first-class, degustation menu that they prepared on Saturday night.
This event is in its fourth year running and was initiated three years ago by two staff members, Trish Young and Tookie Capezio, as a way of broadening the experiences of Senior Hospitality students. It also gives the students with the opportunity of providing a service to those members in our community who need our help most. On behalf of all the Merici College community, we commend Trish, Tookie and the students on their wonderful endeavours, and congratulate them for the first-class, degustation menu that they prepared on Saturday night.
As part of Catholic Schools Week Discover New Horizons, Belinda visited Merici College to conduct a Writer’s workshop with students from Years 7-9 and an Author talk for Year 7 students.
Merici was pleased to welcome Minister Mick Gentleman on Thursday morning for a tour of our Makerspace and to meet some of our engineering students. Among his other portfolio responsibilities, Minister Gentleman is the Minister assisting the Chief Minister on Advanced Technology and Space Industries.
We are pleased to announce that our student-initiated application to participate in the ABC’s @QandA audience in Canberra has been successful! Tune in at 9.35pm on Monday 10 September to see our young women tackle the issues of today!
