Seiwa House celebrated their inaugural ‘House Day’ on Monday 25 June. This was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge, observe and explore the Order of the Good Samaritan Nuns on which Seiwa House is founded. Students gathered together in the PC lesson Period 4 for a special assembly to reflect on the history of Seiwa House, followed by a celebration cake in the Indigenous Garden. Seiwa students also wore blue accessories on the day.

We would like to thank Paul Ninnes from Real Talk for his ‘Love and Life: Getting Real on the Tough Topics’ presentation to our parents and carers last night. Some of the topics that Paul covered included:
• What we are up against: the stats
• Current trends in teenage sexual behaviours
• What the Catholic Church teaches about sex and the role of parents
• The Language of the Body –
• The deep significance of sex (psychologically, emotionally, spiritually and physically)

Our thanks are also extended to our community for attending the seminar.

On Saturday 2 June, the College community welcomed over 80 ex-students to an Alumni Soiree. School tours were conducted which presented ex-students with an opportunity to see first-hand how the College has changed since their graduation. As they walked down the school corridors, the ex-students reminisced about their classrooms, their teachers and their friends. All had one thing in common, they were all proud Merici students who have contributed to the growth of the College and its history.

At the conclusion of Mass, Merici’s school captains, Olivia Straker and Bronte Alexander, coordinated a whole school Trivia game with a twist! The students were challenged to learn more about the history of Merici College through the completion of quizzes and going to specific checkpoints to undertake team building activities in order to complete the challenge.
