IB Learner Profile and Remote Learning

Across the IB programmes at Merici College, the MYP and the DP aim to foster a set of distinct attributes which inspire students to be active, compassionate, life long learners. These qualities aren’t left at the door of the classroom, rather they shape all aspects of student life. Made up of ten aspirational qualities of the learner, the Learner Profile motivates teachers, schools and students to be more internationally minded.

Green Tip #10 - Take a break and scrub up!

Welcome back to Term 2.

In the midst of a pandemic and with climate change in the background, sometimes our minds need a break.

For something fun to do while at home that only needs ingredients that you probably have on hand, how about a home-made face scrub?

Not only is it good for your skin, it reduces packaging, there are no plastics and microbeads, no fragrances, no parabens or other questionable ingredients.

Alumni Mentoring Program for Senior Students launched

Merici College is excited to be launching a mentoring program to help our senior students as they adjust to the remote learning situation. A call went out to our alumni who graduated between 2012 and 2018, asking for volunteers. We are so proud and grateful that over 150 recent graduates have responded in just two days.

During this time of physical distance, it's important for us all to stay socially and academically connected. Every single senior student at Merici will be assigned a former student who will work with them throughout Term 2.

Why did you chose to study the IB Diploma Program at Merici College?

I chose IB because I've always been interested in doing new classes, and IB is very different from the structure I'm used to. I hope the IB DP challenges me because I want to expand my horizons. For me, the IB is a new pathway that I can use to better myself and be a well rounded person. Preashika Dhakal, Year 11
