Student Achievement – Mercy Foundation Youth Award Winner

Congratulations to Leila Buckley (Year 9) for winning first prize in the Mercy Foundation Youth Awards (Photo) Competition for 2020! The Australia-wide Years 7-12 competition aims to encourage young people to learn more about social justice issues in Australia. The competition theme for 2020 was “Freedom- Ending Modern Slavery. All Year 9 RE classes participated in activities centred around the theme and many students entered the competition.

Year 9 Pilot Outreach activity from the ANU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science

Today nine students from Years 9-11 participated in a pilot outreach activity from the ANU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS).  Delivered virtually, but with the help of an on-site facilitator from the ANU, the students heard a keynote speech from Associate Professor Katia Bazaka and then took part in two hands-on workshops.

Yes, Australia is the world's highest per capita emitter of the greenhouse gas Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

With only .3% of global population and 1.3% of emissions, we are ahead of the USA and China. The UK produces 1/3 and Indonesia 1/10 of our emissions, respectively. 

2020 Bridge Benefit Dinner, In Her Name

On Saturday 5 September, the senior Hospitality students, prepared and presented an 8 course degustation for 68 guests, matched with wines for Eden Road Vineyard for the 2020 Bridge Benefit In Her Name fundraising dinner.

This year’s Bridge Benefit dinner was in honour of our friend Hannah, and the importance of this was felt deeply by those involved.  All proceeds will be donated to OzHarvest.
