What is your carbon footprint?
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions that come from the production, use and end-of-life of a product or service.
It includes carbon dioxide — the gas most commonly emitted by humans — and others, including methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases, which trap heat in the atmosphere, causing global warming.
Usually, the bulk of an individual’s carbon footprint will come from transportation, housing, and food.

On Friday 10 May, our College was honoured by the presence of more than 100 mothers and significant others from our Merici family. The focus of the Prayer was centred around the love of a mother and ongoing nurturing that mothers provide to their children every day. After the Prayer, guests and students enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared and served by the Hospitality students. It was a wonderful opportunity for our community to celebrate Mothers’ Day, share stories, laugh together and make more connections while sharing a meal together.
We would like to thank our mothers and daughters for attending our Mother's Day Liturgy and Lunch today. It was a wonderful celebration! We would like to extend our thanks and congratulations to our Hospitality students and staff on preparing and serving a delicious lunch. We hope you all have a wonderful day on Sunday.
Kitchen sponges accumulate bacteria, debris and other particles, and become smelly.
However, it is not always necessary to throw them out to landfill straight away.
You can save money and reduce waste by extending the life of your household sponges...
...by cleaning them!
Put them in the dishwasher, washing machine or in boiling water with a splash of vinegar.
Once cooled, wring them out and air dry them.
I have been doing this for years, and also put my kitchen scrub brushes in the dishwasher when they need cleaning.
Happy Cleaning!
A special thank you to all our students and families who commemorated ANZAC Day with our community yesterday.
I would especially like to thank Group Captain April-Leigh Rose for speaking to our community today. Group Captain April Rose became the Registrar of Military Justice (RMJ) on 1st November 2021. She joined the Royal Australian Air Force in July 2002 after several years in private practice and at the Legal Aid Commission of Tasmania. She is an Arts, Law graduate of the University of Tasmania, and holds a Masters of Military Law (with merit) from the ANU.
As the holidays approach, it is timely to think about what you can do to travel more sustainably.
