International Day

Today our Year 7, 8 and 9 students were treated to a day of fun cultural activities and performances to allow students to appreciate the cultural diversity in our community and society.

  • Iranian Voices
  • Kungfu
  • Trivia: Around the World in 80 Questions
  • International Movie: Children of Heaven
  • Cultural Fair

The canteen served delicious international dishes at lunch. After lunch, students participated in different interactive cultural activities organised by Year 9 students.

Year 7 Christmas Marketplace

In our Year 7 RE classes, our students have been exploring the real meaning of Advent and Christmas and to encourage students to think of others, the Year 7 RE Classes ran marketplace stalls today  to raise funds for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. Each class made craft items to sell, as well as some homemade sweets,  Student craft items included Christmas decorations and many other small gifts suitable for Christmas.

We congratulate of our Year 7 students on their exceptional effort in making so many fantastic items to sell.

Advent Liturgies

On Friday 3 December, Year 7, 8 and 9 students attended Advent Liturgies focussing on this year's College theme Dare to Dream with its overarching symbol of the STAR. Historically, the stars were used as maps by peoples moving from place to place.

St Angela Merici, herself, was

  • a star-gazer,
  • a dreamer,
  • a seeker and
  • a Pilgrim Traveller.

Today St Angela Merici is our star, guiding us along our journey as students at Merici College.

#MericiMoment Wall of Words – Jessica Lean (Class of 2008)

The word I have selected is MOMENTUS.

From the moment I left Merici, I could see how my actions and decisions were influenced by my experiences at school which showed how significant my time at Merici was - especially in having a bearing on future life events. My time at Merici and the community I was a part of shaped my life to date, and I frequently reflect on moments throughout school with a smile on my face and a feeling of nostalgia. The good old days!

Year 10 Advent Mass and Awards Ceremony

In a year where we have been encouraged to Dare to Dream, it is wise to explore how this season of Advent helps us to do so. I feel that the wonderful task of Advent is to awaken us all to memories of goodness and thus open the door of hope. If you are hope-filled you have the courage to dream, to be future-focused, to aspire to better things and to look forward to a glorious future filled with love, joy and the grace of God.
