Return to School Plan for Years 9 and 10

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are thrilled to be welcoming our Year 9 and 10 students back to school next week. As you can appreciate, there are specific requirements for their return.

Please see below the return to school plan for next week. Please talk through this document with your daughter to ensure that she understands the expectations and how school will operate next week.

#MericiMoment Wall of Words - Carlia Zedde, Class of 2014

The word I have selected is OPPORTUNITY as Merici has provided me with so many opportunities both when I was at school, and after graduating. Opportunities in terms of education that have allowed me to find my passion and pursue this pathway in teaching, whilst aspiring to be like the many wonderful teachers I had at Merici. Opportunities to truely figure out who I am, to gain confidence, to be myself, express myself and to learn to love myself.

Congratulations to the following students who a achieved a Credit or Distinction in the Australian Mathematics Competition held in Term 3: Ashley Frater, Amelia Bond, Lana Dexter, Saanvi Bajaj, Ruofei Yan, Ruby Alexander, Keely Balind, Sofia White, Hannah David-Hoole, Ishita Gupta, Rebecca Price, Hannah Scott, Alice Cobbin, Tara Holmes, Amelia Miller, Ruby Budd, Seren Rowlinson and Catherine Brooker.

After graduating from Merici College in 1998, I moved to Sydney to do a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of Sydney and went on to complete Honours and a PhD in Pathology. The aim of my thesis was to investigate and understand how cancer cells invade and spread throughout the body.

Tracy Keeley

Business owner, university graduate and former Merici student, Tracy Keeley, has penned a letter to current Merici students, providing an insight into the journey of a successful business woman.

Claire Smart

After graduating from Merici in 2014 I accepted an early entry offer into the Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Albury. I have loved every moment of my last three years at university, and though challenging, I have built on the many skills I developed at Merici. The great opportunities I have had at CSU include representing CSU at the Eastern Uni Games for Volleyball, receiving an Executive Dean’s Award, being accepted into the Integrated Honours program and presenting my honours project at the CSU Science Symposium in Wagga.

Anna graduated from Catholic Girls High (now Merici College) in 1980 and has since studied at the Australian National University, University of Canberra, and Harvard.
Anna has had a very varied career which started as a Research Assistant, while completing her psychology studies for the World Health Organisation’s School of Social Psychology at the ANU. During this time she also spent two years working with homeless youth.

Heather Phillips

I fondly remember my time here at Merici. While here I was involved in lots of dance and drama activities. I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Rock Eisstedfods and Drama productions. Towards the end of my time at Merici  I made a massive move into the world of art and after finishing school went on to the Campus of Art and undertook the study of ceramics at the ANU.
