Our Year 7 Religious Education classes held a Christmas marketplace fundraiser for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. During Period 2 and recess the students sold hand-mafde craft items and to raise money for St Vinnies. We would like to congratulate the students on the exceptional efforts this year.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed a cultural infusion today at our International Day with a wide range of different activities and performances which included a Chinese Lion Dance, Bollywood Infusion, Viva Mexico musical performance, Indigenous Infusion with Larry Brandy, Dance Troupe performances, Merici's Cold Fusion staff band performance, gelato stalls, Pain au Chocolate stall, a multicultural menu served in the canteen and an Egyptian Belly dance performance.
We would like to thank all our performers and stall holders for making this day such a great success!
It is here on this night of celebration that we recognise academic, social, spiritual, emotional and cultural achievements. I call on you all to appreciate the blessings you have received. These talents and gifts, bestowed on you by God, have been nurtured by your parents and developed throughout your time at Merici College by your teachers, the staff and your friends.
Today we gathered to celebrate the end of Year 10 and prepare to embark on the next stage in your daughter’s educational journey. We also take this opportunity to recognise their successes, both academically and more broadly in their contributions to many aspects of the life and community of Merici College.
We take this time to thank the parents and carers for their support and commitment, as well as the teachers for the exceptional learning opportunities and guidance they provide. And to give thanks for each student in this Year 10 cohort.
Congratulations to Imogen Simmons who has been awarded the Actsmart Schools Sustainability Leadership - Secondary Student.
Since her appointment as Sustainability Captain in Term 4 of 2019, Imogen has brought enthusiasm, commitment and drive to the overall approach to sustainability at Merici College. Her thought, planning and effort was undeterred by the disruptions this year and she has produced many important contributions to Sustainability on campus:
Creativity is about human expression and communicating deeply. It is a gift where every artist desires to share a glimpse into part of themselves. Merici College celebrates the artistic gifts and talents of our students throughout the year but especially at our annual Showcase Exhibition. Our students are creative risk takers, they day-dream and work hard to craft the product that tells the story they want to be told in the medium they choose to explain the mystery of life, and the adventure we are all on.
