Reflections

Memories@Merici with Heather Phillips (Class of 1998)

At our recent Grandparents Day, our community welcomed grandmothers, mothers and aunties who are ex-students of Merici College.  This presented us with the wonderful opportunity of interviewing ex-student Heather Phillips, aunty to current students Imogen and Niamh Blake.  Heather graduated from Merici College in 1998 and shared the following reflection.

Merici College Class of 2007 Reunion - Saturday 16 September

Join the Class of 2007 from Merici College for an evening of memory sharing, old faces and new opportunities to connect! This event is open to all women who attended Merici College who would have graduated from Year 12 in 2007 - it would be great to see all the faces the students grew with and learnt from.

What our parents are saying about Merici!

We recently asked our parent community what they like most about Merici College. Here's what they had to say:

The culture at Merici was what attracted us to enrol our daughter. The school environment is very inclusive and provides opportunities for students to achieve. The students are well-balanced, and our two enrolled daughters are very happy to be part of the Merici community. Year 7 Parent

My daughters thoroughly enjoy participating in the numerous co-curricular activities on offer at the College. Year 9 Parent

Memories@Merici with Nicolette Marks, Class of 2008

Up, Close and Personal with Nicolette Marks

I graduated from Merici in 2008. The values I developed over the six years I attended Merici set me on an incredible path, which exceeded all my expectations. I gained multiple academic qualifications, I studied in Iceland and New Zealand, I was the only Aussie involved in world first research in Antarctica and I have travelled to almost 80 countries. I love exploring and globetrotting, but the strong sense of loyalty and pride Merici instilled in me, always draws me back to Canberra, to my family and community

A Reflection from Sr Genny Ryan osu from the Australian Ursulines

Once upon a time……

in the year 1474 a girl named Angela Merici was born in the tiny farming village of Dezenzano situated on the shores of Lake Garda in Italy.

Now, today, the 26th May 2017, 543 years later we gather to celebrate Angela’s life and to give thanks to God for the extraordinary person she was… but Angela Merici would be quick to say “no more wonderful than each of you – the students, staff, parents and friends of Merici College, Braddon.”
