As Merici College family we gathered yesterday, Wednesday 15 February, to celebrate our 2023 Opening School Mass.
This is a new beginning with fresh hopes and unknown possibilities. Maybe even some concerns are emerging in our hearts. So how will we embrace what may unfold for us, day by day.
Our school theme for 2023, Communitas will guide us on our journey. We are encouraged to reflect on the inclusiveness of our community and the relationships that we have with one another.
The Theologian: Bernard Lonergan reminds us:
As many people would know, Türkiye and Syria have been struck by a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Thousands of deaths have been reported in Türkiye and Syria and the death toll is increasing by the hour. Freezing winter weather is only adding to the devastation, as the thousands left injured, trapped or homeless are stuck in bitter cold and rain.
Merici College will be having a uniform free day (with a suggestion of wearing red items of clothing or accessories in solidarity with the country's national colours).
Students, we would love to meet you!
Do you want to join an award-winning team and take part in sustainable actions at school to make a difference?
Come by our stall at the Activities Expo next Thursday to say hello, have a cookie and sign up for the year with SAM.
Bring a friend!

Welcome all to the commencement of the 2023 school year. I hope that you had a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year holiday season. I also trust that all are ready for:
I would like to take this opportunity of welcoming our new Year 7s and students who have joined the Merici community in Years 8 through to Year 12.
This year saw change continue within the Religious Education Department! More of our staff undertook Catalyst training and this has resulted in important changes to teaching practice that have been welcomed by the students in all year levels – daily reviews and full student participation are part of lessons. All teachers have used the SEQTA learning management system, resulting in greater access for students and parents to daily lessons materials, assessment tasks and feedback.
