On Tuesday 2 May, the students and staff of Ningil House celebrated the inaugural Ningil House Feast Day. The day began with prayer and reflection in Morning PC, where the formation of the Ningil Mission in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea, as well as what it means to be a member of Ningil House today, were referenced. Later in the day, the House celebrated through reciting the House prayer, singing a rousing rendition of “I’m a Ningil House Kid” and sharing cake in what proved to be a most joyous atmosphere.
This week is International Compost Awareness Week!
Did you know that as Australians, almost 50% of the waste we put in our landfill bins is compostable? You can rescue your food waste by starting a composting system at home or in the workplace. Composting is a great tool for gardeners and waste-haters alike!

Today marks the start of Catholic Schools Week (CSW) when we celebrate excellence in education. The theme for 2017 is Great Learning. Great Communities.

Catholic Schools Week (CSW) will be held 1-19 May. The main aim of CSW is to build community awareness about the strengths and distinctiveness of Catholic schools. The theme for 2017 is Great Learning. Great Communities. We have planned many wonderful activities during Catholic Schools Week which includes all students and staff receiving a a commemorative lapel pin on Monday 1 May during PC.

As I write this update, our students in China are getting ready to visit the Great Wall!
All is going well with our intrepid Language students as they undertake Merici’s first trip to China, as you can see from the happy snaps from recent days.
I hear Mrs Preston is busy making poppies for our Anzac Ceremony so it’s lovely to see wherever we are in the world, we are united as the Merici Community.
On Monday 3 April, the Merici College community reflected on the significance of Easter by exploring the Stations of the Cross and other important aspects of Holy Week in the Easter Liturgy. The liturgy was completely student-focussed with approximately 50 students leading all elements.
We wish our community a very Holy and safe Easter.
