This week is International Compost Awareness Week!
Did you know that as Australians, almost 50% of the waste we put in our landfill bins is compostable? You can rescue your food waste by starting a composting system at home or in the workplace. Composting is a great tool for gardeners and waste-haters alike!

“Catholic Schools Week is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the innovative learning and faith development that occurs in Catholic schools every day” (Mr Ross Fox, Director Catholic Education Canberra & Goulburn).
Today marks the start of Catholic Schools Week (CSW) when we celebrate excellence in education. The theme for 2017 is Great Learning. Great Communities.
Prayer:
Loving God,
As I write this update, our students in China are getting ready to visit the Great Wall!
All is going well with our intrepid Language students as they undertake Merici’s first trip to China, as you can see from the happy snaps from recent days.
I hear Mrs Preston is busy making poppies for our Anzac Ceremony so it’s lovely to see wherever we are in the world, we are united as the Merici Community.
Here is our green tip for the week:

On Saturday 1st of April nearly two years of preparation by Mrs Jen Baines and Mrs Corinne Preston came to fruition as eight of the nine Merici students and their families gathered at the Jolimont Centre in Civic (the ninth student was already in Sydney!). A total of nine Chinese students from Years 9 to 12 are now on their way on Merici’s first Study Tour of China! The amazing teacher team has travelled together before, to Japan last year, so the students are in good hands. The Chinese students will undertake a 20-day Study Tour of China.
