The start of a new year is the perfect time to refresh, restart and challenge yourself to make a difference. At Merici we are continuing to focus on reducing waste to landfill, rethinking our energy use to be mindful of only using what we need, and being conscious water users in terms of water quantity and quality (what we put down the drains).
At home and school you can apply principles of sustainable living. Read more.
Welcome to this week’s sustainability news......
The new benches in the quadrangle have been completed and they look fabulous!
Even more exciting is that fact that it is made from Ekodeck Plus, a timber substitute which is a composite of reclaimed timber and bamboo and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).
You may also be interested to learn that in addition to decking made up of Ekodeck Plus, the natural timber trim is reclaimed timber from the spectator seats of the indoor pool at the AIS, which was completed stripped out. A great example of re-purposing.

The ‘Arts’ consists of visual and performing arts and the students presented a very professional and entertaining program. Students from Year 7-12 modelled their designs in Fashion and Textilesand the Merici College Dance Troupe performed five wonderful routines that showcase their diversity. The Choir were outstanding as they performed a vocal piece.

We would like to congratulate all the staff and students involved with the Music Presentation Night on Friday 23 November. It was a tremendous evening, very well attended by parents and families and they were a very appreciative audience. There were approximately 90 students involved in the various music ensembles: Choir, Junior and Senior Band. Jazz Band and String ensemble. All the bands and solo performers sounded so great - it was a very entertaining evening and we certainly have an abundance of extremely talented students at Merici.
OPEN-MINDED
We critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.
