Student Achievement - Jorga Jongeneel's role investing the Governor General as Chief Scout of Australia

During the holidays, Jorja Jongeneel (Year 7) had the privilege of being selected as one of a small group of Scouts who invested the Governor General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), as Chief Scout of Australia. The ceremony was held at Government House on 2 October and Jorja had the honour of presenting the Governor General with his name badge. This event is also special as it only happens around every 5 years when Australia has a new Governor General. #mericipride

Merici College Green Tip #31 - ACT Healthy Waterways

This week’s Green Tip has been written by Imogen Simmons.

In Week 10 of Term 3, SAM had a guest speaker come in to talk about ACT Healthy Waterways and why it is important for Canberra to have healthy waterways.

So why is it important for Canberra to have healthy water?

The water in Canberra’s suburban creeks, wetlands and ponds mostly comes from stormwater and run-off from residential blocks, streets, retail and industrial areas. This water ends up in our lakes and rivers, largely untreated.

Merici College Green Tip #30 - Stop Climate Change

According to the Australian Conservation Foundation 350,000 people nationwide participated in last Friday’s student-led #ClimateStrike  the biggest climate mobilisation in Australia’s history.

Thank you to the many Merici students and staff who went to Glebe Park to show their support for urgent action to address climate change.
