Merici College Green Tip #32: Fast Fashion and Circularity

Textiles and fashion waste have reached unprecedented levels around the world.

Australia is the largest consumer of fashion in the world per capita, with over 300,000 tonnes of textiles discarded each year.

With processes such as resource extraction, manufacturing, distribution, consumption and disposal happening with multiple players and often across multiple continents, finding solutions is not easy.

Re-purposing is part of the solution.

Year 10 Social

A great night of fun and dancing was shared with our Year 10 students at their Social. We hope that you all had a great night.

Special thanks to all our staff who helped with the planning. We would like to extend our special thanks to Danni and her team for preparing delicious canapes, as well as Mark and Vincent for their AV expertise.

Have you heard about the biodiversity crisis and want to help?

The good news is that you can start in your own back yard.

  1. Plant locally native species
  2. Create layers of habitat
  3. Provide food, water and shelter
  4. Install habitat such as bee hotels and nesting boxes
  5. Reduce lawn area
  6. Remove environmental weeds and known invasive species.

Merici College Green Tip #29 - Sw(op) Shop is back! Clear out your wardrobe!

It's Sw(OP) shop time!

That means it is time to spring clean! Over the holidays, start gathering your unwanted, clean, re-usable items and prepare to send them into Merici in Term 4!

Fact: 50% of all fabric ever made is now in landfill.

Fact: 30 million pairs of jeans are sold in the world DAILY

Be part of the solution by supporting the annual SW(OP) shop, either by donating, buying for a gold coin, or BOTH.

SW(op) shop will be in Term 4, Friday November 1st.

Clean, re-usable donations only please.
