On Friday 31 August, over 100 Merici fathers and their daughters participated in our annual Father/Daughter Mass and Dinner. We were very proud to welcome David Forrest from the Fathering Project (http://thefatheringproject.org/) who was our guest speaker and spoke to our community about the journey from dependence (0 to 12 years) through independence (13 to 18 years) and back to interdependence (18 years onwards) and “the Fathers Voice" as a life long guide for the young girls moving through the above journey to becoming a young women, encouraging the fathers to think about what voice they want their daughters to hear. Fathers and daughters were also asked to share a favourite memory with each other; a very moving experience!
We would like to thank the Hospitality students and staff for preparing an amazing meal, Fr Bernie for celebrating Mass with our community and David Forrest. We would especially like to thank our fathers and daughters for your presence and participation in this event.
