Welcome Merici College sisters, staff, parents and carers to the 2026 school year. We are Makeila and Morgan, your 2026 College Captains! We are extremely excited to welcome the new staff, students and families who are joining our Merici community. You are now part of an incredibly caring and nurturing family where we strive to allow every individual to reach their full potential. We are incredibly blessed to have a remarkable leadership team behind us who will provide vital support for our school community and act as your big sisters for the next four terms, allowing 2026 to be one of our best years yet.
The 2026 Merici College theme is “Fidelitas”, Latin for “faithfulness”. We cannot wait to see this concept enacted on by our fellow Merici sisters. We encourage every student to show faith in others, but most importantly, they should have trust and faith in themselves. We truly believe that every individual within our community has the potential and ability to do whatever they put their minds to. While each person’s future takes a unique path, one thing everyone should aim to keep, no matter where life leads, is faith. This year, we want to use this theme to inspire confidence, optimism, trust, and hope within our college community. As your school Captains, we aim to foster an environment built on faithfulness and unity, a place where every member feels supported, valued, and connected. It is our hope that every student will embody Fidelitas, carrying its strength in all that they do.
We believe in the power, resilience, and potential of young woman, and in the ability we have to make a lasting, positive difference in the world around us. At Merici College, we aim to nurture a supportive and uplifting atmosphere both inside and beyond our classrooms, where every student can reach their own boundless potential. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the numerous opportunities our school offers, whether through co-curricular activities, clubs, musicals, or by stepping outside their comfort zones to try something new. Fidelitas reminds us that staying true to our commitments and showing loyalty in our actions helps us grow not only as individuals, but as a united group. Together, we hope to build a community where everyone feels valued, included, and empowered.
We truly wish to keep our promises by providing open communication, listening to the student voice, and making sure every person in our community is supported and feels included. In the spirit of Fidelitas, we want every girl to look to the future with faith in her journey and the trust that she will remain true to herself. We encourage you all to carry the spirit of this theme into all that you do, whether that be within or outside the walls of our College.
