ANZAC Assembly 2022

Today, Wednesday 27 April, Merici College held a very special Anzac Assembly. The assembly provided the community with the opportunity to pause and remember the men and women who have served in Australia’s Defence Force, honouring their memory. In particular we celebrated our theme Serving our Community. It was an honour to welcome our guest speaker, Captain Kate Ryan, Royal Australian Navy. Captain Ryan entered the Royal Australian Navy via ADFA in 1990 and trained as a Maritime Warfare Officer. She completed a variety of Warfare Officer roles, including serving as Navigating Officer in HMAS GEELONG and instructing at the Navigation Faculty before transitioning through several Navy Headquarters communications, strategy and futures, and personnel related positions. Captain Ryan has been employed in personnel and workforce related roles since 2006 and is currently the Director of Strategic Workforce Planning and Analysis in the Defence People group. She is also the Head of Professional Requirements for the Navy Maritime Human Resources Officer Workforce Planning and Analysis Stream, and a trustee of the Royal Australian Navy Relief Trust Fund.

We would like to thank all our guests and the Merici College Defence families for attending our ANZAC Assembly. We would like to acknowledge the valued contributions of the Catafalque Party, Musician Dave Leaders, Lance Corporal Aaron Passfield, Merici Vocal Group and the Canteen staff.

Special thanks and appreciation are extended to Capt Kate Ryan RAN for being our guest speaker.
