2025 Advent Mass

#JOY

Principal’s Address – Advent Mass

Good morning everyone and how blessed are we to celebrate such a wondrous mass together. This morning we have marked the advent of Christ – we await, with hope and eagerness, His arrival as our saviour, our foundational source of joy!

Thank you, Fr Renoir, for leading us so beautifully.

Thank you to Ms Markmann who brought us together to celebrate with such warmth and creativity.

Thank you to Joelle and Krissia, our altar servers; Vincent and our tech team; Mr Luck and our fabulous musicians; Trent and his maintenance team; and, as ever, Ros Parisi.

Joy-filled, sacred, communal gatherings, could not happen without our dedicated and inspired team of liturgical specialists.

This year our theme has been Joy, our symbol he rose and our colour was pink. Most of you have managed to retain your ribbons marking our focus for 2025! In a morning rich with symbols I want to focus on what these represent in the context of our theme: pink and the rose point to beauty, love, passion and sacrifice. It makes sense then that the rose is often associated with Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Pink was the colour used by medieval painters and illustrators to colour the robes of Jesus. We tend to connect it with compassion, friendship, nurture, good health, comfort, warmth, femininity, the rights of women and unconditional love. It is a colour that evokes joy and happiness.

Stay pink, keep growing by being women and men of joy, knowing that, no matter what, you are loved unconditionally by our God.

We congratulate all our students who received their Blue, Red and Gold angel wings in recognition of their christian service contributions. We particularly acknowledge the efforts of Sophie Martin and Sara Venkat who were both presented with Platinum Angel Wings for each completing 300 hours of service – a remarkable achievement.

I wish you every blessing and a safe and holy Christmas break. Take the time to cherish being with those you love, as Christ did.
