Merici Green Tip #6 - Our SAMs

A record number of students have signed up to be part of the Sustainability at Merici (SAM) Group. Almost ninety students signed up last Thursday at our Activities Expo, more than 10% of the student population. A reflection of the growing awareness of urgent action on climate change and environmental protection! Enjoy our photos from our Activities Expo. Well done to Gabby Cox, our Sustainability Captain for her efforts in organising the stall and speaking to our students.

Student Achievement - Raechel McKinnon

We congratulate Raechel McKinnon (Year 8) on her selection into the 2019 U14 Girls’ Australian Diamonds Squad. As part of the development program, Raechel will be participating in a tour to Auckland, New Zealand from 15-23 April 2019. This tour has been specifically designed to expose players to international softball, with games scheduled against local New Zealand teams in an Auckland-based tournament, together with training days.

Wishing you lots of success Raechel!

2019 Swimming Carnival Results

Merici College’s 2019 Swimming Carnival saw students compete in traditional stroke and novelty events. The carnival allowed many students who have spent very early mornings involved in local swim squads to showcase their talents and also provided an avenue for all the girls to take part in a challenging activity.

Dance Troupe at the Multicultural Festival

Celebrating Student Achievements and Awards

It was with great pride and appreciation that Mrs Loretta Wholley and members of the Leadership Team presented academic awards to students on Monday 11 February for their achievements in Semester 2 2018.

Mrs Wholley addressed the students, recognising the achievements and hard work of all students.

“As students at Merici you are called to: Be compassionate and faithfilled young women who reach out to others and are a powerful voice for those less fortunate.

Our NASA Space School Experience

In December of 2018, I had the privilege of accompanying a group of girls to the US for the CASE Senior Space School.  While my group was composed of girls from Sydney, a small group of Canberra students, including two from Merici, were in another group along with the Queenslanders.

Our two weeks were spent in Houston, Texas, with a mixture of educational activities and challenges, space-related experiences, and a number of dynamic and interesting speakers and guests.
