On Wednesday 22 March, all students taking History in Semester One spent the day visiting the Australian War Memorial. The excursion was enjoyed by all with students gaining a greater appreciation of the roles of Australians in the First World War.
As part of the Year 10 Semester One, 2017 Religious Education Unit: ‘Interfaith Dialogue’, our students visited four Religious sites to listen to representatives speak about their religious beliefs and customs, to gain awareness and appreciation of the diversity of traditions within Canberra. We would like to thank the Hindu Temple, Sri Vishnu Shiva Mandir in Mawson, the Canberra Mosque in Yarralumla, the Sikh Temple in Weston and the Thai Buddhist Temple in Lyneham for making time for our students and teachers.
Year 7 Integrated Humanities visiting the National Museum. The students have the opportunity to explore the Eternity Gallery, the Eternity Gallery and the Landmark Gallery. In the The First Australians Gallery the students were immersed in a workshop where they discovered about life for Indigenous Australians
Each year we hold a Year 11 Conference to induct students into Year 11 and life as a senior. The Conference is a formal program designed by the pastoral and academic staff at Merici to ensure students are fully aware of her responsibilities as a senior. The Conference was held at the Warrumbui Retreat and Conference Centre from Thursday 9 February – Friday 10 February and was a huge success. Special thanks to all our Year 11 students and staff for their wonderful participation.
Canberra students from Merici College, Girls Grammar and St Clare's currently on the HASSE Junior and Senior Space School Programs, together with over 100 other students in Australia.
