Merici Weekly Green Tip #20

Here is our green tip for the week:

Did you know….

Tomatoes originally came from Peru where their Aztec name translated to “plump thing with a navel”.

Tomatoes increase in weight as they ripen, even after harvesting.

Our annual tomato plant sale is on Saturday 28th October at 8am at Merici College - on the corner of Henty Street and Limestone Avenue.

Memories@Merici with the Class of 1977 Reunion

We would like to thank our Class of 1977 for the opportunity of conducting a school tour as part of their school reunion on Saturday 14 October. It was a pleasure listening to all the wonderful school yard stories!

We would also like to thank the Young Music Society Concert Band who were rehearsing in our Jubilee Centre at the time of the tour and happily performed "Lord of the Dance" for our group.

International Day of the Girl ABC Radio Canberra Interview

International Day of the Girl is an international observance day declared by the United Nations and is held on 11 October each year. The observation supports more opportunity for girls and increases awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide based upon their gender. This inequality includes areas such as access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination, violence against women and unfree child marriage.
