It gives me great pleasure to welcome you and daughter to the Merici College Community.  Please find below some information about the beginning of the school year for your daughter and we hope it will answer some questions you may have about her first week at Merici.  Further information will be supplied on her first day.

When does school start for Year 7 in 2018?

School starts for Year 7 on Monday 5 February 2018 and arrival time on that day is at 8.30am. School finishes at 3.07pm.

We are looking very forward to seeing all the students and teachers again soon, as well as getting to know our new students and their families.

We would like to welcome you to the 2018 school year. We are committed to supporting you throughout this year and welcome the opportunity of getting to know you better. So, please, if you see us around the school, stop for a hello; we are here to help you settle into school life and are most happy to hear any great ideas you have that will enrich our school culture.

2018 Term Dates

Term 1                 Monday 5 February - Friday 13 April - First Day Year 7, Year 11 and 12 and new students

                           Tuesday 6 February - Friday 13 April - First Day Years 8, 9 and 10 students

Term 2                 Monday 30 April - Friday 6 July

Term 3                 Monday 23 July -  Friday 28 September

Term 4                 Monday 15 October -  Friday 14 December (students) Friday 21 December (staff)

Congratulations to our Year 10 students who celebrated their academic achievements on Thursday 30 November at a special ceremony.

We would also like to congratulate the following students who received scholarships and special awards:

Christmas in the Wide Brown Land conjures up imagery of Santa delivering presents in his boardies, Paul Kelly making gravy (don’t forget tomato sauce for the sweetness/tang factor), and families gathering under Eucalyptus in blistering temps for lunch on the 25th. Not many sleigh bells, festive jumpers, or toasty fireplaces. But there is one seasonal stereotype we do share with our Northern Hemisphere neighbours – indulgence.
