Australian Computational and Linguistics Olympiad (OzClo) Winners

On 7 March 2018, twelve senior students participated in our very first Australian Computational and Linguistics Olympiad (OzClo). OzClo is contest for high school students that combines computational thinking and linguistics, challenging them to develop their own strategies for solving problems in fascinating real languages. We are very pleased that Merici was able to field three teams of Year 11 and 12 students in this year’s competition.

Deputy Principals from South Korea visit Merici Sustainability as part of their training

On Monday the 7th and 14th of May Merici hosted groups of Deputy Principals from South Korea. The visit was part of their university training to qualify as a school principal. The training requires them to visit schools in another country. Their specific purpose in visiting Merici was to look at the Kitchen Garden. Fiona Buining (Sustainability Teacher) and Bec De Courcy (Sustainability Officer) talked to the group about the garden via the competent translator, Jae, who had organised the tour schedule. They loved our garden and spent significant time looking at the plants growing.

Mother's Day Prayer and Breakfast

On the morning of Monday 14 May, our College was honoured by the presence of more than 140 mothers, grandmothers and significant others from our Merici family. The focus of the Prayer was centred around the St Angela Merici Rose which was gifted Merici College this year and is our 2018 Year of Youth symbol, representing the ongoing nurturing that mothers provide to their children every day. Students wrote messages of thanks, appreciation and love to their mums and significant others; recognising the important role they play in their lives.

Open Day Thank You!

We would like to acknowledge the wonderful contribution made by students which, in no small part, contributed to the success of our Open Day. Over 200 students participated in Open Day activities during the day and into the night. The students were all wonderful ambassadors for our school and we have received excellent feedback from all our visitors on your exceptional skills in conducting school tours, participating in classroom activities, and presenting dance and drama performances.
