Merici College Green Tip #14 - World Bee Day

This Friday, May 20th, is World Bee Day.

World Bee Day is held in recognition of the role bees play in sustaining food security, biodiversity, ecosystems health... and ultimately humans and many other species.

At Merici we will be holding a lunchtime stall on Friday 20 May offering honey joys for $1 and beeswax lip balm for $3 made by students.

Proceeds will be donated to Wheen Bee Foundation, towards the Rita Fund for Australian Native Bees.

Open Day Thanks!

We would like to acknowledge the wonderful contribution made by students which, in no small part, contributed to the success of our Open Day. Over 200 students participated in Open Day activities during the day and into the night. The students were all wonderful ambassadors for our school and we have received excellent feedback from all our visitors on your exceptional skills in conducting school tours, participating in Science, Mathematics, Food Technology, Art and Textiles classroom activities, presenting dance, music, vocal and drama performances.

Merici College Green Tip #11 - Want to reduce your indoor air pollution

Get a plant!

Australians spend around 90% of their time indoors.

Studies show that indoor air is more polluted than outdoor air.

Indoor plants are an easy and attractive way to purify the air in your home and workplace.

Keep them away from your pets though!

Easter Liturgy

Easter is the greatest celebration in the Catholic church signifying the completion of the Holy week that ends with the resurrection of Jesus. Today, to mark this special occasion in the Church’s calendar, Merici College commemorated these events with a very special liturgy. The students reflected Jesus’ journey through the Stations of the Cross. They also acknowledged the story of our indigenous brothers and sisters, focusing on the universality of the human spirit and how it we come together as one in the spirit of communitas.
