Year 12 Farewell Assembly

Congratulations and best wishes to our Year 12 students who were farewelled by the community at a special assembly on Friday 12 November. Good luck with your exams  and we look forward to celebrating your achievements at your Year 12 Graduation Mass and Awards Ceremony! #mericipride #mericisisters

Congratulations also to Balgo House, winners of the 2021 House Cup and our year 11 and 12 students awarded Blue, Red and Gold Angel Wings for their Christian Service Learning hours.

 

Remembrance Day, Lest We Forget

Today is Remembrance Day. A reminder we will pause as a College community this morning for a reflection.

 

Prayer: Compassionate God,

In whose hands are the destinies of this and every nation,

We give you thanks for the freedoms we enjoy in this land

And for those who laid down their lives to defend them:

We pray that we and all the people of Australia,

Gratefully remembering their courage and their sacrifice,

May have the grace to live in a spirit of justice, of generosity, and of peace;

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Merici College Green Tip #35 - What do you do with your sports shoes at the end of their life?

More than 110 million shoes are imported into Australia each year.

One quarter of these are sports shoes with only 1% collected and recycled after use. 

Shoe components take over 1000 years to break down.

This is a significant environmental concern. 

​When footwear is thrown out, not only do we miss the chance to divert tonnes of landfill, we miss out on the valuable opportunity to reclaim, recycle, repurpose and reuse. 

Enter TreadLightly - a national recycling initiative where you can take your unwanted sports and lifestlyle footwear to be recycled.

Year 7 and 8 Return to School Plan

Next week we welcome back our Year 7 and 8 students from remote learning. We are so thrilled to be able to have all of our community together once again.

We are returning to our regular school timetable for all classes and year groups. Attached is the Return to School Plan for students. Please read this through with your daughter to ensure that the expectations and processes for returning to school are clear.

Welcome Defence School Mentor (DSM)

Hello, my name is Kate Friend and I’m very excited to be your new Merici College Defence School Mentor (DSM) at Merici College. This is my first role as a DSM. I have spent many years developing food products as a Food Technologist living in three different countries, plus Australia. More recently I have been a Food Technology teacher, I really enjoy seeing young people learn and grow.
