Here is our green tip for the week:
Did you know…
You can recycle soft plastics at Coles
Supermarket in Canberra??
Coles has partnered with REDcycle to collect plastic that can’t be recycled at home.
You can take in your soft plastic, such as plastic bags, plastic food wrapping, snap lock bags, which is used to create furniture for schools, preschools and community groups.

The head honchos of Sustainability at Merici (SAM) enjoyed working with Year 7s this week. At Merici, we pride ourselves on our culture of sustainability, which pervades life at the College. This week, our new Year 7 students participated in workshops during their Integrated Humanities classes where they learned about our three-bin waste management system, our Flick the Switch campaign, and our student environment group, SAM. A big thank you to Year 12 SAM legends Julia2 (Julia Page and Julia Heather) for helping to facilitate the activities.
Mrs Wholley welcomed all parents, carers, students and staff to the ceremony. She spoke to the community about the importance of recognising the academic achievements of all students. Full article https://tinyurl.com/jfcqpe8.
On Monday 6 February we congratulated our students on their academic achievements from the end of last year. The recognition and praise these students received was a result of each student's individual application and effort towards their studies.
Our Canteen is going cashless! Students may have noticed Karl, the new cash kiosk (the machine that looks like an ATM) located in the foyer outside of Student Services. This is where students can top up their Merici College Student Card with credit for both the canteen and printing – please use this facility instead of giving cash over the counter at the canteen. It’s easy; just follow the prompts on the screen. Karl Kiosk now accepts EFTPOS and PayPass so students and their parents can now top up your student card at Karl with a debit or credit card.

We are very excited to be representing you this year and look forward to our challenge of supporting you all as beautiful butterflies. Yesterday we welcomed our Year Seven and new students to our wonderful community. We hope you will settle in quickly and feel at home here. And to our senior peers we recognise that your Merici journey is coming to an end, however we encourage you to continue to share your experiences and inspire our younger sisters to be the best versions of themselves.
