We would like to congratulate all the staff and students involved with the Music Presentation Night on Friday 23 November. It was a tremendous evening, very well attended by parents and families and they were a very appreciative audience. There were approximately 90 students involved in the various music ensembles: Choir, Junior and Senior Band. Jazz Band and String ensemble. All the bands and solo performers sounded so great - it was a very entertaining evening and we certainly have an abundance of extremely talented students at Merici.
We congratulate Year 12 students Sarah Drew and Lauren Paterson who have both received an achievement certificate and a prize for their short story entries in the LitLinks competition which is a creative writing competition open to all ACT school students in Years 7-12.
Well done and congratulations girls!

OPEN-MINDED
We critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.
We believe all girls and women should be able to live a #fearless life. Today we continue our partnership with @JasiriAustralia to teach all our Year 7 and 8 students self defence #thefutureisfearless #yearofyouth #mericipride
We would like to thank you for providing feedback on our bus service to areas of South Canberra. Our bus service provider, Deanes, have investigated and timed suggestions of route changes that you have put forward. Unfortunately some suggestions have not been able to be included in the route as these changes would add excessive travel time, however some have. We are pleased to advise that slight detours in the existing route may accommodate students living in Waramanga, Fisher and possibly Stirling.
For the second year, the Merici community has participated in a comprehensive survey, capturing feedback across many dimensions of College life. Whilst there is no formal benchmark provided against other schools, Merici enjoys a very high rating across most of the measures. Across all surveys, participants repeatedly commended the school on the positive culture, sense of faith and community, teacher engagement and caring attitude and the diversity of the student body and inclusive culture.
Good afternoon students and staff. This year Bronte and I will share our own individual reflections as we have both gained so much out of the year individually and together.
Olivia Straker, College Captain -
“As Drake once said, “I’m way up, I feel blessed”, and it’s true, we have been truly blessed.
Our school community farewelled our Year 12 students today at a very moving assembly. The assembly commenced with our "little sisters" (Year 7s) singing 'Standing on the Shoulders' to the Year 12 students - it was a wonderfully inspiring performance! The assembly also presented the opportunity to award Gold, Red and Blue Angel Wings to senior students for the completion of Christian Service hours. In addition, Balgo House was awarded the College Cup for 2018 recognising the House's outstanding performance and effort thoughtout the year.
