Principal's Welcome Letter 2023

Welcome all to the commencement of the 2023 school year. I hope that you had a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year holiday season. I also trust that all are ready for:

  • a fresh beginning,
  • to be open to new experiences, and
  • are looking to continue your journey to human growth and fullness of being in 2023.

I would like to take this opportunity of welcoming our new Year 7s and students who have joined the Merici community in Years 8 through to Year 12.

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM OUR 2023 COLLEGE CAPTAINS

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM OUR CAPTAINS

Numerologists widely believe the number 23 to be associated with the planet Uranus; a planet which is believed by astrology enthusiasts to represent change, innovation, and progress. Others believe the number 23 to be a sign from angels, a message from the divine. Our research, in conjunction with the brilliant leadership team and the wonderful Merici staff and students, hints at one thing; 2023 is going to be a fabulous year to remember.

The Year in Creative and Performing Arts

The Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Department has enjoyed a year of refreshment and excitement. In February, we welcomed a new visual art teacher, Ms. April Croft, to our team and she has inspired the students to create some remarkable art works this year. We also welcomed Mr. Jason Kohlman, who has been sharing his knowledge and passion for Media with the Year 9 and 10 students.

Thousands of year 12 students have discovered their ATAR scores this week, bringing an end to their high school careers.

But the university entrance score is not as crucial as it once was, with many students receiving early offers or choosing to take a break from academia.

Principal's Christmas Letter to the Community

Serviam

Our community knows, that as people of God, we are called to activate our hearts, heads and hands to further the welfare of those around us. We are continually being invited to walk in Jesus’ footsteps and be inspired by His model of servant leadership, most beautifully conveyed to us in the moment when He washed the feet of His followers, not long before He died in order to save all of us.
