Congratulations to our Antigone cast and crew who worked long and hard to ensure that the performance drew our audience to the team’s dystopian interpretation of this traditional Greek play. Our talented students, along with students from Marist Radford, Burgmann and Erindale Colleges, continue to demonstrate the very high standards we have come to expect of Merici College.
We would like to thank our community for supporting our musical, Roald Dahl's Matilda Jr. A very big thanks to all our students who were exceptional, dedicated, energetic and optimistic. They wowed their audiences and will have forged life-long memories and friendships by being involved and brave enough to perform for all. Creativity is about human expression and communicating deeply. It is a gift where every artist desires to share a glimpse into part of themselves. Merici College celebrates the artistic gifts and talents of our students throughout the year but especially at our annual Showcase Exhibition. Our students are creative risk takers, they day-dream and work hard to craft the product that tells the story they want to be told in the medium they choose to explain the mystery of life, and the adventure we are all on.
Congratulations to Leila Buckley (Year 9) for winning first prize in the Mercy Foundation Youth Awards (Photo) Competition for 2020! The Australia-wide Years 7-12 competition aims to encourage young people to learn more about social justice issues in Australia. The competition theme for 2020 was “Freedom- Ending Modern Slavery. All Year 9 RE classes participated in activities centred around the theme and many students entered the competition.
Our 2019 Showcase is a celebration of the artistic gifts and talents of all our students. The subjects highlighted in the exhibition are Dance, Photography, Visual Arts, Media, Music, Vocal and Drama The ‘Arts’ consists of visual and performing arts and the students presented a very professional and entertaining program. The Merici College Dance Troupe performed wonderful routines that showcase their diversity. The Vocal Group were outstanding as they performed vocal pieces. And the talents of our bands and ensembles has been outstanding this year.
