My chosen word is SPIRIT. Merici provided me with some great foundations for my life now, the way I conduct myself and what I’m passionate about at work. When I think of my time at Merici, I think of the word ‘Spirit’. I remember the letter I received in Year 6, welcoming me into the Brescia ‘family’, I remember House cheers and the sense of belonging and community I felt when I was at school, surrounded by teacher and people who I knew really cared about me.
After graduating from Merici College in 2010, I went straight to university, studying at ANU as combined degree with a Bachelor Arts and Bachelor Science (in Psychology), finishing with majors in Italian, Psychology and ‘Health, Medicine and the Body’. After graduating, I applied for the Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) and finished this in 2015, beginning my teaching career in 2016. I have taught Psychology, Sociology, Italian and Maths and love engaging with students and supporting both student and staff wellbeing. My current role is the Director of Inclusion Support Programs and the Behavioural Sciences Faculty. Since graduating, I’ve kept in close contact with many of my friends from Merici, considering them friends for life. I got married in 2019 (to the same boy I was dating when I was at Merici), we built a house together and I’ve done some travelling overseas.
