Merici Green Tip #3 - Canberra Schools and Climate Change

How are Canberra schools adapting to these soaring temperatures? (Canberra Times, Sherryn Groch, February 12, 2019)

It's official: January 2019 was Australia's hottest-ever month on record going all the way back to 1910, according to the monthly climate review released by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).

This is climate change in action, affecting our lives in the present.  It is no longer something that will happen in the future nor is it debatable whether it is real or not. The worlds best climatologist have stated that climate change is real, it is happening now and urgent action is required to avert catastrophic climate change impacts.

Alongside Merici, other schools in Canberra are acting to reduce their contribution to climate change.  This was highlighted in a recent Canberra Times article attached below for you information.  It is definitely worth reading particularly as you will learn how higher temperatures affect the learning abilities of students. In particular cool environments are more important for students learning than for adults.
