Last week the SAM group met with Brook from the Hackett Compost Collective.
We learnt about all the benefits composting has for the environment.
So, what are the benefits of composting?
- It reduces the amount of food waste going to landfill and thus, the amount of methane gas produced is also reduced;
- Using compost on the garden reduces the need for chemical fertilises;
- Compost releases rich nutrients into the soil which improve soil quality; and
- It’s scientifically proven that people who compost are the most gorgeous people!
Composting at home is super easy and there are plenty of resources out there to help out first timers.
But if you don’t have the facilities at home for composting the Hackett Compost Collective can help you out. They collect compost from houses for a small charge of $10-$15 and compost it for you!
