It may be "just one packet of chips" that ends up in the lunchbox, and it is so convenient.

However, when multiplied by the number of students, then by the number of days in term, then over a year, then multiplied by the number of schools in the ACT, then across Australia....you get the picture.  Truly staggering.

We really can and need to do better.  Not just for Plastic Free July, but all the time to protect the ecological systems which support life.

Will you substitute with an alternative to make a huge impact over time?

Individual changes that occur across the whole school, to reduce plastic waste will multiply your impact by hundreds or thousands of plastic packets.

Where to start?

Take a look at your lunchbox to find one thing to swap for a reusable alternative.

Look for:

  • Wax sandwich wraps,
  • Homemade snacks over store-bought ones wrapped in plastic,
  • Reusable water bottles,
  • Cardboard pens,
  • or buy from the amazing waste free canteen at Merici!
