What is Sustainability?
While carbon emissions reduction is significant in promoting sustainability, sustainability itself is much broader.
It encompasses environmental, economic, and social aspects of life, with separate attention to every component in order to foster sustainability and long-term development while preserving a healthy planet for generations to come.
For a sustainable future, informing individual values and norms should be prioritized. Therefore, environmental education at all levels is necessary, from childhood to adulthood, to impart knowledge and motivate behavioural change.
Environmental education, when supported by policy and institutional frameworks, presents an unparalleled platform for individuals to experiment with new methods, commit to sustainable living, and work towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
