Merici College Green Tip #16 - World Environment Day

The United Nation's principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Over 143 countries participate annually.

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on the 5th of June every year, and is the United Nation's principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Over 143 countries participate annually.  First held in 1974, it has been a flagship campaign for raising awareness on emerging environmental issues including marine pollution, human overpopulationglobal warmingsustainable consumption and wildlife crime. This year's theme is air pollution.

To honour World Environment Day and confirm our waste accreditation we have rolled Clean Up Australia day into a week-long waste education programme to ensure that we maximise our recycling results here at Merici. Recycling reduces air pollution.
