You may have seen one of these recently…

It is a bogong moth.
This species has suffered a 99% decline in its population and is listed as an Endangered Species.
Bogongs are currently making their migration from Queensland to the Australian Alps, and are attracted to the bright lights of Canberra.
Some of them end up inside buildings.
If you see them, please try to help them outside, for example by leaving doors and windows up until they are back outside.
This also helps the other Alpine species that rely on the bogong moth for food, particularly another endangered species, the Mountain Pygmy-Possum.
Please do not harm them.
