Congratulations to Alara Salvage, Class of 2023 who won the Australian Institute of Building’s Best Female Student Award (ACT Chapter) in recognition of the top female student studying a Bachelor of Building and Construction Project Management across all cohorts at the University of Canberra. Alara received this award along with Dean’s Excellence Award’s – above a 6.5 GPA – every semester so far in her studies. Alara is completing her studies whilst also working full time on a construction site as a Building Cadet for Construction Control. “The company believed in me, giving me a chance as a very young student and I have been supported the whole way by my two mentors Lauren Couter (Company Director) and Sophie Lumsden (Project Manager). I am incredibly passionate about the pathway I am on to become a Construction Project Manager and I have built so many wonderful connections and contacts such as Joanne Farrell, founder of Build like a Girl and ACT Australian of the Year 2024. I have also been supported by Taylor Perrin who is a member of Build like a Girl and a Merici alumni who came and did a presentation back when I was still a student.”
We wish Alara continued success in all her endeavours.
