The electricity bill for the school for the month of May is $17,237.67.
Many lights, heaters and other electronic equipment are left on when people are no longer in the room.
Heaters are set as high as 30 degrees. Sometimes these are left on over the weekend.
We can do better. This money can be redirected elsewhere.
For example, we could expand our biodiversity plantings, creating a double benefit for action on climate change – reducing CO2 with lower electricity consumption and increasing the absorption of CO2 through the plants.
Switching off also reduces the amount of climate warming gases that the school is emitting. We must do better.
Please!
