A Message from our Captains
Welcome Merici College sisters, staff, parents and carers to the 2025 College year. We are Laura Davidson and Zoe Crick, your College Captains for 2025! We would like to extend our warm welcome to new staff, students and families joining our College community. You are now part of an incredibly supportive and kind community, where we strive to make everyone’s journey positive and impactful. We are so excited and incredibly grateful to have an amazing leadership team behind us who will act as your big sisters and supporters for the next 12 months, ensuring that 2025 will be a memorable year filled with fun.
The 2025 Merici College theme is “joy” and we cannot wait to see how this virtue can be embraced by every one of our Merici sisters. Joy is a critical attribute in the journey of every student, inspiring us to celebrate every achievement, build strong friendships and support one another through any challenges we may encounter. Joy is the notion of embracing the present moment with gratitude and appreciation, finding delight in both the big milestones and the small, everyday experiences. This year, we want to use joy to inspire confidence, hope, compassion, independence, and self-belief in every girl. We encourage them to break barriers, overcome obstacles and challenge their limits. As your captains, we aspire to foster an environment where every member of our College community can find moments of joy in their own lives, creating a vibrant atmosphere of positivity and empowerment. It is our hope that each student will find joy.
We believe in the capabilities of young women, and the power that we have, to make a true, positive difference in the world that we live in. That is why we strive to create a positive atmosphere both within and beyond the learning environment at Merici College that will encourage students to seek joy in their every action and fulfill their limitless potential. We want to encourage every student to get involved with the broad range of opportunities available at Merici by signing up for co-curricular activities and clubs, participating and contributing to school events and trying something new that pushes you out of your comfort zone. We would like to collaborate with students, staff and families to foster a supportive community where everyone feels valued and empowered. By working together, we can cultivate an environment that not only enhances personal growth but also inspires creativity, teamwork, and leadership. We encourage open communication and feedback, ensuring that every voice is heard and respected.
We want to keep our promises by listening to student voices, and making sure that each and every one of you feels safe, supported and included in this wonderful Merici community. In the spirit of Spes, we want everyone to be able to look to the future with the knowledge that everything is going to turn out just fine. We want to allow you to be hopeful for the future, both at Merici and beyond. We want to challenge every student to actively seek the small moments of joy within their own lives. In working together with the whole College community, we believe we can create a wonderful school experience for every student that will hopefully last a lifetime.
