#MericiMoment Wall of Words – Jessica Lean (Class of 2008)

The word I have selected is MOMENTUS.

From the moment I left Merici, I could see how my actions and decisions were influenced by my experiences at school which showed how significant my time at Merici was – especially in having a bearing on future life events. My time at Merici and the community I was a part of shaped my life to date, and I frequently reflect on moments throughout school with a smile on my face and a feeling of nostalgia. The good old days!

After graduating from a Bachelor of Business (Event Management), I moved from Canberra to Sydney. Since then, I have become a corporate communications and events professional producing influential communications and tailored, high quality events in the banking industry. Most significantly, in 2015 I travelled around Australia to deliver a touring Anzac exhibition with the Australian War Memorial, Defence and Commonwealth Bank, and I am now responsible for communications to 42,000 people on behalf of Matt Comyn, the CEO of Commonwealth Bank. I have also spend a significant amount of my time dedicated to raising awareness of cancer research, having raised $11,500 in 2020 along with my sister Victoria, and recently speaking at a fundraising event with 1,000 people about the loss of our mum two years ago (who was always a keen contributor at Merici College through netball and other community initiatives).
