Academic Awards Semester 1 2020
On Tuesday 11 August the Merici College school community celebrated the academic achievements of students in Semester 1, 2020 with over 300 students receiving awards that highlight their effort and joy of learning.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to hold our Academic Awards ceremonies as normal this semester and conducted the ceremonies via live stream through our Merici College YouTube channel.
Year 10 Transitions Forum and Reflection Day
During the week, Year 10 students at Merici College participated in the 2020 Transitions Forum and Reflection Day. The Forum is held every year and is dedicated to Year 10 students moving into their final years of education, providing them with an opportunity to consider their course choices for Years 11 and 12 and to think about career pathways.

This week as our Year 10 students prepare for their 2020 Transitions Forum, our #MericiMoment takes a look back at forums held in the past. Forums are held every year and are dedicated to Year 10 students moving into their final years of education, providing them with an opportunity to consider their course choices for Years 11 and 12 and to think about career pathways.

Year 7-10 Advent Mass
Our community celebrated Advent on Thursday 5 December with a very special Mass. We were very honoured to welcome our Celebrant, Fr Emil Milat from the Central Canberra parishes and Sr Genny Ryan, one of our Ursuline Sisters whose Order is instrumental to the foundation of Merici and who continue to inspire us today.
Father/Daughter Mass and Dinner
Our annual Father/Daughter dinner was held on Friday 30 August. The evening commenced with a very special Mass celebrated by Father Bernie Patterson and followed with a wonderful meal prepared by our Senior Hospitality students. We also welcomed Mrs Patricia Falcetta from Social Living and is a Family Joy Expert who spoke about the special relationship that fathers share with their daughters. Patricia also runs positive menstrual health education workshops and workshops for fathers as well called Fathers Celebrating Daughters.
2019 Book Week Dress Up Parade
2019 Book Week dress up parade was a huge success. Beautifully creative costumes, embracing the theme Reading is my secret power and some amazing likeness to Book Characters.
