St Angela Merici Day Award
Special thanks to all our House Coordinators, House Captains and Vice Captains for their extraordinary planning and facilitation of all the House events and activities.
We hope all our students and staff had a wonderful day celebrating the Feast Day of St Angela Merici.
On Friday 31 May, our College community celebrated the Feast Day of St Angela Merici. In 2024, our journey at Merici College is guided by the profound theme of "Spes," meaning hope - a beacon that shines brightly as we commemorate the feast Day of Saint Angela Merici and 65 years of Catholic education in Braddon. Anchored in the timeless wisdom of St. Angela, we embrace hope as our steadfast companion, echoing the biblical assurance, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure" (Hebrews 6:19).
On Thursday 30 May, our Art students enjoyed the opportunity of attending a Photography workshop facilitated by Peter Solness, a pioneer of night photography and stunning light-painting techniques. Peter shared his wealth of knowledge and skills to the students. Thanks so much Peter for spending time at Merici College. #petersolness #mericiarts
In October last year, I wrote a Year 9 History essay on the contemporary relevance of ANZAC Day. Simple enough, as essay writing is the currency of the high school Humanities student. However, little did I know that this essay would lead to a life changing (and life enhancing) experience, and a turning point in the way I view my schooling and future.
We would like to acknowledge the wonderful contribution made by students which, in no small part, contributed to the success of our Open Day, Be Merici Girl Days and Talk and Tours. Over 300 students participated in these activities. The students were all wonderful ambassadors for our school and we have received excellent feedback from all our visitors on your exceptional skills in conducting school tours, participating in Science, Mathematics, Food Technology, Art and Textiles classroom activities, presenting dance, music, vocal and drama information.
